Weekend Project: Part Two

Now, onto part two of my weekend projects. You may recall that last Friday, I got so excited when I saw this photo in the new issue of Lonny Magazine.  I saw this desk and knew I had to have that. There I sat in my little cubicle and the project wheels started spinning 1000 mph.

I knew EXACTLY how to duplicate this look on a ridiculously low budget-$39.99 for the desk and $4 for the paint. NAILED IT! As soon as I left the office, I headed for Ikea and bought this desk-another fabulous piece from the Vittsjo line. I wasn't quite sure if I would use it to replace the bar table I have or turn it into a vanity. Either way, I loved the clean lines and knew that I could always re-paint it later if I needed to re-purpose it.
As soon as I put it in the bedroom, I knew it HAD to be turned into a vanity. Seriously, how have I gone all this time without one, I don't know.
I gave it one coat of paint and let it dry and a few hours later brought it in to start the styling process. She is still a work in progress, but I am so beyond excited with how it turned out.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a Lucite chair but not sure yet. I need to give this some time to sink in before I can pick the seating. Any suggestions?

  3. Wow! You really did a great job replicating that table! I love it. As far as the chair, Id say you dont need a lucite chair. You seem to have enough space and might want to warm up that space with something a bit heavier? Especially since the table is already see through. I like to use lucite when my space feels cluttered. Yours seems nice and open from the pictures:)

    1. Mimi, you may be onto something there. I do love a light feel to a room, however. I think when you see the rest of the room, you may change your mind. Stay tuned. A full tour of this room is coming this week, so I would love to hear what you think!

So glad you stopped by PFS!
